- Lunati Racer Series I-Beam Connecting Rods
Lunati Racer Series I-Beam Connecting Rods are manufactured from 4340 forgings, heat treated, stress relieved, shot peened and magnafluxed to ensure the highest level of quality. 4340 Forged steel is extremely strong, often used in commercial and military aircraft, as well as automotive racing applications. It also retains excellent fatigue strength so you can relax knowing that your connecting rods are constructed from one of the strongest materials available.

Racer Series Rods are all strength and quality tested through a variety of processes that include stress relieving, shot peening and magnafluxing. Stress relieving heats metals to a certain temperature and then allows them to cool in still air. This helps with the removal of remaining stresses from the metal. Shot peening is a process by which small metallic particles are used to impact the surface of the material being used in a part's construction and creates compressive residual stresses on that surface, which can then longer withstand cracking and breaking, thereby increasing the lifespan of the part. Finally, maganfluxing, also known as magnetic particle testing, runs a magnetic particle filled fluid over and through metal parts. The magnetic particles attach to any flaws or fissures in the material and magnifies them so that it can be identified and removed from use if necessary. Rods are weight matched to +/- 1 gram and utilize ARP 2000 rod bolts.
